Hey guys,
My clutch makes a squeaking noise when it is not engaged. As soon as I put any pressure on the pedal it goes away, also if you lift the pedal it goes away. Someone told me that it was the throw-out bearing touching the fingers of the clutch? Bad design was the reason and no cure was given. It is really annoying. Any ideas?

Fixed by changing the clutch & spigot bearing. So gearbox has to come out.

Mine does exactly the same, due for a clutch anyway. Good to know it's a common issue!
cheers, Julza

Not a bad idea to do engine rear main seal and gearbox input shaft seal at the same time either

Yep, mine squeeks first thing in the morning, disappears after a while.
I'm in no rush to replace it!

Mine does it also. The ute makes a squealing noise in the mornings with the clutch peddle in and a fair bit of squeaking with it out, but once it's warmed up its not too bad. The clutch is still strong though, so not too worried about it.
My XR8 sedan also made noises for 5 years, but never failed.

my ute does too. put in a new one only lasted about 3 months so then changed clutch and new throw out, it lasted about 30 000k and is doing it again now. never had these problems with my sedan so maybe there is some sort of common issue
